Closed My Etsy Shop

I've been on Etsy for a long time.  I never sold much there and finally decided to close it today.  I mean permanently.  As in I no longer exist in the Etsy universe.

My views were abysmal and I don't have time to schmooze in the forums.  So over the last few days, I've been slowly moving my pincushions and such from Etsy to Art Fire,
I like the atmosphere there so much more than Etsy.  As I've moved things, I've deactivated them on Etsy and changed the listings a bit.  So now my pincushions can be found on Art Fire, along with my jewelry.  I hope I made the right decision but I haven't liked what's been going on there over the past year.  Commercial is God now to the owners of Etsy and I would rather list on a site that still celebrates hand made.

  1. You have to do what feels best. For me, it was the reverse. It really is whatever works...for you :)

    1. Thanks Valerie. I do feel this is best. I still love my pals over on Etsy and will continue to participate in the blog ring on FB. See you there!

  2. Have admired your pincushions and other items on Etsy, Nancy, and am thrilled they are now on ArtFire. Will def check out your studio. I started off on Etsy, hated it there, opened and ArtFire studio, and LOVE it here. Mainly because of all the wonderful, helpful artists, like yourself, that people the ArtFire community. Peace and joy to you . . . Catherine

    1. Gunilla, I think I did. Art Fire feels more like home.

  4. I'm still on Etsy because now and then something in my shop sells. Sadly, folks are more familiar with the name "Etsy" and not so much with "ArtFire." I hope having all your items in one place will boost your sales on ArtFire!

  5. So glad to know that your pincushions are now on Artfire. I'll be able to promote them even more now it's on Artfire.

  6. I'm sure it feels good to have everything in one place. I hope you see the results you are hoping for. I agree with your appreciation of Artfire and the Artfire community. I have, however, just opened an Etsy store this summer and feel kind of positive about it so far - as Ewenique said, so many more people recognize Etsy.

  7. I can relate. I never understood how to make Etsy work. My shop is still there, but there's nothing in it.

    1. Roxanne, My Etsy shop was empty for quite awhile then I started listing my pincushions. But nothing really happened so I decided to finally just chuck it. What with the ever changing shop designs and lack of views, I decided I didn't like it there anymore.
