I've been on Etsy for a long time. I never sold much there and finally decided to close it today. I mean permanently. As in I no longer exist in the Etsy universe.
My views were abysmal and I don't have time to schmooze in the forums. So over the last few days, I've been slowly moving my pincushions and such from Etsy to Art Fire,
I like the atmosphere there so much more than Etsy. As I've moved things, I've deactivated them on Etsy and changed the listings a bit. So now my pincushions can be found on Art Fire, along with my jewelry. I hope I made the right decision but I haven't liked what's been going on there over the past year. Commercial is God now to the owners of Etsy and I would rather list on a site that still celebrates hand made.

A Little Bit Of Heaven -- Pottery Heaven On Etsy
As Wednesday rolls around again, I realize that I haven't done my post for the Blogging Again Ring. We're a little group of 9 who have pledged to promote each other through our blogs.
This week the topic is to feature one of our fellow members on our blogs. I've was intrigued by the work of Martina Morton of Pottery Heaven on Etsy'
Martina is from the Toledo, Ohio area. She and her husband have 2 young boys who are currently the focus of her life. To quote Martina, "Her boys are only young once, so I'm trying to make them my first priority."
She joined Etsy in 2009, after a friend told her about the site, where she makes and sells the most wonderful pottery items. Etsy turned out to be a match since her engagement, wedding and the birth of her first son, left little time for shows or spending extended periods in her studio. The birth of her second son left her even less. With Etsy, she can list her products and basically forget about them until they sell.
Despite a husband and two young children, Martina still strives to work in some creative time while caring for those she loves.

Finn's Favorite Patriotic Pull Toy
I have been creating things for as long as I can remember. When I was little, I would sit by my mother and sister while they sewed. They would give me bits of cloth, lace and beads and button to play with. I don't remember exactly what I made with these treasures but I do know that my artistic ability grew from those happy shared times with my family.
I've always drawn, painted, and sculpted. My mom taught me to knit and crochet. In the last few years, I've resumed knitting and crocheting, making fingerless gloves, scarves and belts. I taught myself several new techniques in the knitting arena, such as knitting gloves and mittens on two circular needles, intarsia, and double knitting. I even wrote some blog posts about my adventures in knitting, learning these new techniques. They can be found here if your interesting in reading them: Adventure 1

Once upon a time, I was listing all my stuff on Art Fire. As time went by, I didn't like the look of my shop. It had become a chaotic mess, with my jewelry, knit, crochet, sewing supplies like wool felted pincushion, and items inspired by my Lab mix called Finn. I decided to split everything up into separate shops. As I was already signed up to sell at all the above places, I've been in the process of moving items around to my different shops. I don't know if it's a good plan or not, yet, only time will tell.
I live in Central Massachusetts, about 45 miles from Boston. I have a wonderful husband who supports me in all I do, three grown children , one grandchild and, of course, my loving and enthusiastic dog, Finn.

Zoomorphic Hats
With winter approaching, my thoughts have turned to winter wear. What is more important for winter than a hat to keep your head warm. After all, it's said that most of the heat escapes your body through the top of your head. And they make great Christmas presents!
I'm a very do-it-yourself kind of gal so I drew my own pattern for a fleece toddler size hat with ear flaps. I made one for my grandson to go along with his Ninja Turtle Halloween costume.
He loves the hat and wants to wear it all the time.
The other day I decided to try my hand at making a Froggy Reversible Ear Flap Hat
It came out so cute, I tried another, this time a Penguin
I also made a little Snow Bunny
Her expression makes her look like she's startled to be out in the cold and snow.
I have many more ideas for these hats. I just have to figure out patterns for them. In the meantime, enjoy the snow to come because you know in about six months time, we'll be wishing for it!
