It's Time to Visit the Sea!

Some of my favorite time is spent on the beach.  I love the beaches of Maine where the beaches range from long strips of tan sand to tiny coves amidst the rocky Maine coast.  I can not image going for long stretches of time without being able to hear the crashing waves and smell that unique tangy ocean scent.  Fortunately, I live in Central Massachusetts and the ocean is no more than an hour's drive from my house and even the beaches of Maine can be visited with only an hour and a half drive.

That being said, I was glad to learn that this week's Smoosher's topic was "Every thing's a beach."  Polymer clay lends itself so well to replicating sea life and it can be used to fashion jewelry with a beachy flair.  I, myself, have made flip flop earrings and necklaces for summer or vacation wear and I'd like to share these other "beachy" items that I found in the shops of other Polymer Clay Smoosher's.

This gorgeous Sand Dollar Pendant can be found in BeadCombers shop.
This adorable Under the Sea Switch Plate Cover by Fantasy Clay would be perfect for a little girl's bedroom.
Starfish are an iconic symbol of beach life and this Lucky Starfish Necklace from Gem'sPCCreations is a lovely example of what can be created using polymer clay.
I found this OOak Sea Turtle in KaelMijoy's shop.
And this Day On The Water Pendant by Valerie's Stuff brings the beach feel to everyday.
I'm sure I could go on and on finding fantastic beach themed items but I think I'll stop here.  I'm looking forward to visiting my favorite beaches again, now that the warmer weather has finally arrived.

Fantasy Creatures from The Polymer Clay Smooshers Guild

This has been a bad week for me.  My husband's been out sick for most of it with a horrid cold.  So between taking care of him and running out to get cold medication, I haven't had much chance to do anything.  He finally went back to work today and I have the house to myself.  What a glorious feeling!

Today is this first time, this week, that I've had a chance to check out the Smooshers Guild on Art Fire.  I was delighted to find out that this week's blog roll topic was Smoosher's choice!

I've decided to do fantasy creatures , since I love dragons and fairies and the like.
While this is not a fantasy creature, it allows fairies access and egress to your home.

While these are not all the fantasy creatures created by this guild, I think they represent some to the best!  You can check out some of the other artists here:
